To Play Along

  • Have OpenTTD version 13 ONLY (do not use v14)
    • Steam:
      • Open the Steam client and navigate to your. Library.
      • From the OpenTTD page, open the Properties window from the Manage menu.
      • Select the. Betas. tab.
      • Select the version you would like to opt into.
      • Launch OpenTTD to play the game with its Beta changes.
  • Download the game script
    • In game from the main menu go to: Check Online Content
    • In the top right search for: "Simple City Builder"
    • On the left next to "Game script": Check the box
    • In the bottom right click: Download
  • Get the game save
  • Play the game
    • From the main menu choose: Load Game
    • Find the file you downloaded
    • Click: find missing content online
    • In the next screen choose: Download
    • Start playing
  • Save your game every 10 years from 1940
  • Watch out in episodes for requests for when to send me your games saves and which ones
  • Contact me via one of the contact links on the bottom of this page to send your game saves
  • NOTES

The Challenges

  • City Builder Challenge - Grow the town as big as posable by the end of the game by fulfilling the scripts growing requirements.
  • FIRS Steeltown Vehicle Challenge - Have an Assembly Plant produce as many vehicles as possible in the 'last month' by the end of the game.
  • No Trains Zone - Complete a goal of your own using any vehicles except trains.
  • The Preservation Lands - Complete a goal of your own without; using the land changing tools or removing rivers or removing town buildings or removing town roads.

Rules n FAQ

Note: This is if you intent to share your map and submit it to Hellish for viewing. If you are just going to play the map and not share your game save then you could change whatever you like.
  • In the Preservation Lands you can remove road you placed.
  • For the vehicle challenge if you max out the Assembly Plant you can have more than one.
  • You are allowed vehicles to cross between the 4 areas if you wish.
  • You can add lochs to the existing rivers in The Preservation Lands.
  • You can change any of the following game settings, if you do place a sign in the center of the map saying what you changed.
    • Number of allowed vehicles (warning, can slow the game down)
    • Breakdowns
    • Cargo distribution (not recommended)
    • Town allowed to builds roads setting
    • Adding/Removing aesthetic ONLY GRFs (Can brake the game)
